The Foundation expands its activity by opening a Social Center

In 2022, the Uniting History Foundation takes a new and important step to improve and develop its activity in the social sector. A Social Center has been created under the Foundation with the purpose of helping lonely seniors to improve their quality of life, and an office has been opened in the center of Rīga.

‘In the past months, we have dedicated a lot of effort and energy, devoted an immense amount of warmth so that today we can introduce you to the next stage in the growth of the Foundation. The newly created Social Center provides personalized and individually adjusted care services to each of their clients. We care for more than 20 lonely seniors now, assessing the current situation of each client, their health and everyday needs, all while keeping the opportunity for each customer to receive these services in their familiar home environment,’ Executive Director of the Foundation Elīna Škļara explains.

The professionally trained and emotionally intelligent staff of the Social Center help the seniors not only in day-to-day activities and routines, but also assist in housework, join them on walks and are there to listen and encourage the improvement of the seniors’ quality of life. One of the directions for the Social Center and an important side project is also attending culture events together. For their first meetings, the seniors attended the Latvian National Museum of Art and the Mikhail Chekhov Rīga Russian Theatre and had deeply moving experiences both at contemporary and classical art exhibitions and a musical performance.

In order to ensure the work of the Social Center and a successful cooperation with current and future clients, this spring, the Social Center opened its office in Rīga, at Rūpniecības iela 19. ‘We hope that these comfortable premises will inspire our kind and caring team members for future work and collective achievements. This is where we receive prospective recipients of our services to assess their individual situation, circumstances, wishes and needs to develop a personalized and specially adjusted plans of care,’ E. Škļara adds.
