As we expand the activities of the Uniting History Foundation and establish our place among Latvian charitable organizations, we wish to introduce our new name, the Uniting Foundation, which symbolizes unity, connection, and bonding.
At the end of summer, the Limmud Baltics Conference took place in Estonia with over 200 participants from the Baltic states as well as the USA, Germany, Israel, France, and other countries. The conference, dedicated to Jewish culture, history and current topics in the community, has become an annual tradition.
In July, the string ensemble of the Liepāja Music, Art and Design School, Amber Strings, went to a prestigious competition in Los Angeles, USA, with the support of the Foundation, and received gold awards in three categories.
The 11th Annual World Reunion of Liepāja Jewry took place in Liepāja last weekend, from July 21 to 23, inviting the descendants of Holocaust survivors to the city. This year, the event was attended by approximately 100 people from USA, United Kingdom, Germany, Israel, Norway and Latvia.
On July 6, the Foundation had the opportunity to bring the sounds of live music and joy to the hearts of the residents at Social Care Center Ābeles. A selection of works by German, Italian, French, Hungarian and Latvian composers was performed for the seniors and people with disabilities by string ensemble of the Liepāja Music, Art and Design School, Amber Strings.
In preparation for the upcoming ceremony for the Jewish Genocide Memorial Day on July 4, the Uniting History Foundation has supported the cleaning of the territory around the memorial on Gogoļa Street, trimming trees and a thorough cleaning of the monument for Žanis Lipke and other saviors of Jews in Latvia.
After opening the Social Center, the Uniting History Foundation has created a culture event attendance program that provides over 35 clients of the Center and other isolated seniors to meet, converse, and share new experiences outside of their normal routines.
In 2022, the Uniting History Foundation takes a new and important step to improve and develop its activity in the social sector. A Social Center has been created under the Foundation with the purpose of helping lonely seniors to improve their quality of life, and an office has been opened in the center of Rīga.
May 10, 2022, was the final day of the first year of the Amber Music Discussion Club, the educational series supported by the Foundation and implemented by the Great Amber Concert Hall.
On April 15, 2022, the Easter Concert. Ešenvalds and the Munich Boys’ Choir, supported by the Uniting History Foundation, was hosted for a wide audience at Liepāja Concert Hall Great Amber.
